We had to abruptly end our Australian trip half-way through, and then we were, like most of humanity, sitting at home in Slovenia for months.
The COVID 19 restrictions are slowly lifting, and we will have to see what is possible, but right now we are at least planning to explore and finally post about Stina's home country - through Kyle's eyes.
Until then, here are little snippets of our local rides: Slovenia is a fun little country, with lots of variety, e.g. you can go from the Alps to the Mediterranean coast within a few hours.
We went through Logarska Valley and Ljubelj Pass (with the extremely important goal of buying Germknödel on the Austrian side)
Between resting after our 2019 African trip and preparing to go to Romania and below, we rode around Slovenia a bit, and hosted some fellow travelers coming through Slovenia (just like others hosted us when we were on the road - paying it forward feels good, plus it's fun to meet new people and share experiences!).
This April, we spent the surprisingly warm and sunny weekend riding around Slovenia. We had fun o dirt roads around Logarska Valley to Kamnik on Saturday, and then e rode along all 42km of the coast on Sunday - Ankaran to Lucija, stopping in Koper, Izola and Piran.
P.S. Lots of fun people come from Celje, but this one was especially different:
Alma Karlin was a tiny woman from Stina's hometown: a writer, traveler, polyglot and collector, who, exactly a hundred years ago, went on a decade-long world trip. She traveled through the Americas, Asia, Australia etc. - a woman, all alone, tiny, often broke. A true badass and inspiration - so Stina went to proudly pose with her at the end of our moto trip through Africa.
